Advanced International Multitech (AIM), the second largest Taiwan-based maker of golf shafts and heads, has extended its production to carbon-fiber chassis for ultrabooks, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
AIM has a great deal of experience in making carbon-fiber golf products and has developed application of carbon fiber to chassis for notebook PCs and other 3C devices for three years, the sources said. HP, Dell, Acer and Asustek Computer have talked with AIM about adoption of carbon-fiber chassis for ultrabooks, the sources indicated. AIM is expected to ship carbon-fiber chassis in large volumes in 2013, the sources noted.
