Intel’s fifth gen Core processors - Intel’s fifth gen Core processors
Fri, Jul 24 2015 | 1:17PM | Filed under: CPU / Processors| PermaLink Posted by: STAFF

With Skylake around the corner, the belated introduction of Intel’s fifth gen Core processors to the desktop is something of a mystery, but we do like a good question in the vein of ‘what’s it all about then?’ at Hardware.Info. So we went and tested the Core i7 5775C extensively to come up with a verdict that still marks something of a milestone in CPU history: “For a gaming PC or any other system with a dedicated graphics card, you would do best to skip this Broadwell generation and wait for Skylake. But, if you want to put together a desktop without a dedicated graphics card, and you're looking for a processor with an integrated GPU which is fast enough to smoothly run a few games on limited resolutions and settings, these chips are rather interesting.” Succinctly, Intel now has the fastest integrated graphics on the desktop and that is something those of us who’ve been following this field as long as we have would once have been very surprised to find ourselves saying. And yes, it runs Crysis. Sort of.
