If you are still using your desk top or a cloth or cheap foam mat as a mousing surface then you won't regret buying one of these. For most people, the main reason for buying a "high performance" mouse mat is to improve their butt kicking ability in a frag fest. Of course having a mouse that is responsive, tracks accurately, moves effortlessly and generally makes using the mouse a pleasure is another good reason.
