BBC has reported on news of a serious flaw in VBulletin 3.8.6 that allows anyone to easily access the main administrator username and password for the popular forum software. This could also enable hackers to access user data, such as e-mail addresses or edit the forum software at will.
"The owner of the program - Internet Brands - released a fix on 21 July. The simple hack, which the BBC has confirmed, allows even unskilled people to access many websites.
With a few key strokes the person can obtain the administrator's username and password for the website. This can be used to log in to the site and modify and delete elements at will."

When Windows XP was released we thought the problem had been addressed, but still it appeared from time to time to haunt us. Before Windows Vista arrived I had just about managed to exercise all these cantankerous spirits, but of course, evil Vista has managed to raise the dead!
