It has been claimed that Android 2.2 (FroYo) offers significant performance increases over previous iterations of the mobile operating system and one of the devices that could benefit greatly is Dell's Streak tablet. Recently Dell released an Android 2.2 update for the Streak and it provided a good opportunity to look at the performance benefits of upgrading from Android 1.6, the Streak's initial release version, to Android 2.2. The Streak is a good case study due to its rather mainstream hardware feature set that consists of a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. The performance analysis shown here offers that there are significant gains to be had virtually across the board from standard compute performance, to Javascript execution and 3D gaming.
