With the Vertex 3, OCZ has a Solid State Drive in its portfolio
which is based on the latest SandForce SF-2200 series SSD processor.
The drive also features SATA-III support and OCZ claims that the drive
can reach throughput rates of 500 MByte read speed and 550 MByte/s
write. Also for the IOPS the manufacturer promises sky-high numbers.
When writing 4 KByte blocks the drive should be able to hit a whopoing
85'000 IOPS and when reading it should still do 60'000 IOPS. If these
bold claims are really true, that's what were going to find out on the
following pages.
