By the sound of this, some time in the not too distant future, 0.18 micron process will seem as old hat as 0.25 is today. EE times is reporting Altera Corp. has made plans for an all-layer copper interconnect chip based on 0.13-micron process, to be produced by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. before the end of this year. Who thinks 1.5GHz is do-able by Dec 2000?
