PCinsight has an article written about virtual memory. In this article, we give an explanation about what VM is, how it operates and explanations regarding paging and page replacement algorithms. Here is a clip:
"Virtual memory is a technique of executing program instructions that may not fit entirely in system memory. This is done by calling instruction segments as and when the application requires it. Virtual memory is implemented by using secondary storage to augment the processor's main memory. Data is transferred from secondary to main storage as and when necessary and the data replaced is written back to the secondary storage according to a predetermined algorithm. Before moving on, here are a couple of things that you should be familiar with:"
