Scott at Templintech takes a look at the baddest Alpha heatsink available the
PAL 8045. Definitely one of best heatsinks around!
Now for the good stuff the Alpha it's self is a massive hunk of dull black
aluminum sporting a hand counted 426 thin hexagonal pins, the base has a homogonous
build with a flat copper heat spreader that has mystified people for years,
there is no gap between the copper inserts and the Aluminum body of the HSF
which makes for nearly perfect heat transfer between the 2. Theories for this
construction have included press fits, cold forging, micro forging, shrink fits
and more, suffice it to say that only Alpha knows exactly how this HSF is made
but it's very well put together.
