The twist to this lies in the hallways of manufacturers and vendors. Pulling in the opposite direction will be those that make their living from producing add-on products such as sound cards, video cards, wireless PCI devices and more. These people want to sell you specialty products that are “newer, better and faster” than what could come on-board the motherboard PCB and they don’t want you buying one either. They want you to upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. Will those manufacturers ally themselves with motherboard makers such as ATI and NVIDIA have done with on-board video?
