MP3 CD players are often the most wallet friendly of the bunch in that they combine the relatively low price and high capacity of CD media, with the price of a CD player. You can literally burn hundreds of MP3s onto a 700MB CD and take it with you wherever you go. Appealing to the much more high end crowd with money coming out of their ears, HDD (Hard-Disk-Drive) based players, such as the $500 iPod, combined the incredible capacity of multi gigabyte HDDs with the small size of a solid state player. Smack in the middle of these two extremes are the solid-state players. Solid-state players generally have meager capacities compared to their CD or HDD based brethren; however, unlike either of those two it is impossible to make a solid-state player skip. In addition, these players also offer the most flexibility as they are often much smaller than any other MP3 players.
