EXHardware checks out the Pioneer DVD-106S... It's an awesome DVD drive, but
I think it's a little too loud myself. CrazyPC modded it too, it looks pretty
cool! Here's what they thought.
The Pioneer DVD-106S we have here today is an internal slot loading 16X
DVD and 40X CD-ROM drive. From far, it looks just like a standard optical drive
with a slot loading mechanism but look a little closer and you'll see that the
drive also has a wicked cool custom silver face plate which is a mod by CrazyPC.
This face plate mod enables the drive to blend in with the silver color of the
most aluminum cases from Lian Li, CoolerMaster or SkyHawk. Since the drive is
an OEM model, it doesn't come with a whole bunch of goodies such as software
bundles. In fact, all you get is a leaflet manual from Pioneer listing the specifications
and various other details about the drive.
