"The problem is I like taking things to the edge, and because both operating systems are designed for general release they have to hit a happy median of compatibility and stability for a ever growing base of very different hardware, this translates into automating an awful lot of things that consumers really don't want to hassle with (anyone remember having to set your IRQ's manually? Nuff said.) This works great for the rank and file, but people like myself who are just compelled to fart around and try squeaking that last little bit of oomph from the current rig need a way to grab back some control if we can.
For me and many others this entails hacking the Registry (not for the faint hearted) or opting for a piece of software that does it for you. One of these packages is WinTask 4 Professional, created by LIUtilities . "
