"Until recently, there were only two ways to access a network and the internet using a PDA without the confinement of the cradle. One way is to use a wireless networking card (and an access point), and the other is to have an IR port. The problem with the IR port is that the host system using it must be turned on. Here's where Compex steps in with the iRE 201. This standalone device utilizes two IR ports, and allows your portable device to access your network and the internet. It requires no host computer, since it is a standalone device. "
