Intel kicks it up a notch |

In its latest climb up the processor-speed slope, Intel pumps another 200MHz into its Pentium 4 chip. Dell and HP are among the first to join the ascent, putting the new 2.4GHz CPU into configurations of their high-end desktops: the Dell Dimension 8200 and the HP Pavilion 950.
The increase to 2.4GHz coincides with our transition to the next version of our PC benchmarks, BAPCo SysMark2002. As our New York Labs manager explains, until we get more data, we can't accurately gauge whether the increase from 2.2GHz to 2.4GHz is significant.
