I'm willing to bet most of you have never looked inside a DELL machine before. Well here's your chance! The case opens easily via two snap lock buttons at the top and bottom of the case. Things look cluttered inside but bear in mind that this is a fairly small case and DELL has done a pretty good job keeping all the cables neatly in place. The first thing that caught my attention was the heatsink/fan unit that DELL uses to cool the Pentium 4 1.6GHz chip. The heatsink is a very large unit and appears to be very well built but what really stands out is the fan.
Not only is it powerful, it's dead silent and it reminds me of the Noisecontrol Silverado heatsink which uses the same "squirrel cage" design. In fact, the power supply fan follows the same design but it's smaller and the entire system only has a total of two fans.
