"Spreading faster then the famed Melissa virus, broadband bridged home networks are springing up at an alarming rate. In fact the installation of my first personal network was spawned from the necessity to have multiple PC's utilizing my @home cable Internet access. Had I not been using cable, perhaps the need for a home network would not have been so immediate. Fixated on sharing my broadband connection with the rest of the PC's in my house, I went about running Cat 5 cable throughout my home. The task was arduous, as I had to drill holes in walls, climb into the attic and even pull up some of the carpeting all for the sake of hiding that unsightly RJ45 cabling. Little did I know that in only a short year following this painful installation, my entire home network would be rendered obsolete by the introduction of the popular Bluetooth technology. Had I waited to build my home network for only a year, I would have spared my home of severally newly created holes, and instead complimented my cutting-edge systems with a wireless LAN. "
