Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) have started notifying customers earlier than expected that discounts on 0.25- and 0.35-micron processes will be cancelled by year-end, said second-tier Taiwanese consumer IC design companies.
