Mikhailtech posts a review on the kick ass Plextor PlexWriter 48x24x48 CD-RW!
Man, it's so nice...

In the center of the front panel, below the tray, there's the
CDRW Ultra Speed logo, while near the left edge you'll see the BPRec stating
that the drive is using Sanyo's BURN-Proof technology. There's only one LED
with double function like on all other Plextor drives. When the LED is green,
it means there's a disc in drive and when the LED is orange the drive is either
reading or writing the disc. I've noticed there are two shades on orange, one
for reading and one for writing, and the LED blinks intermittently depending
on how fast the writing speed is. Unlike the previous Plextor drives, the emergency
eject has been moved closer to the eject button; Plextor has redesigned the
front panel just for this drive. A new feature is the reinforced front panel.
Because the drive can read and write at 48X speed and there have been reports
of poorly calibrated discs that explode at such high speeds, Plextor has designed
a thicker and more robust front panel so pieces of the exploding discs, if such
a thing should occur, do not exit the drive and hurt anyone.
