almost three months after publicly announcing the sucessor to nVidia's first shot at the mainboard-chipset market and causing quite a stir with it, nForce2 is now almost ready for mass-production and some websites already published preliminary benchmarks, using either an unlocked or very recent Athlon XP with 166MHz FSB showing quite a respectable performance.
Other only using the conventional FSB133-CPUs and only one of the two DDR- Channels of nVidia's Chipset found the nForce2 quite disappointing from a performance point of view.
Armed and ready with an XP2700+ (166MHz FSB), a DIMM-stick meeting the un- offiicial DDR400 Spec with a CAS-Latency of 2 from Corsair and a high-end Ti4600 we put the nForce2 on a BETA-A7N8X Board directly from Asus togehter with it's direct competition in the form of an KT333-Board and a Pentium4 with RAMBUS in a dirty hole and wanted to see which one of them emerged alive and kickin'!
