Screen real estate may be king when it comes to monitors, but with LCD panels you have to balance the amount of screen real estate you'll need with the amount of cash you actually have. In the past the price of LCD panels seemed to follow the laws of exponential growth when in came to increasing their diagonal screen size. Today large LCD panels are still expensive, but the refining of their manufacturing processes, coupled with demand, have driven prices down to affordable levels. Today's review subject is a good example.
The Samsung SyncMaster 191N is 19" of LCD goodness packaged into a narrow bezel design. The goal of this monitor is provide a simple display to the masses who need screen real estate for their desktop applications, while keeping the price low. The 191N does achieve at least one of those goals. We'll get to the part where we see if it meets the other goal.
