Right at 4:15PM on Thursday the power went out and stayed out at PCstats HQ - Toronto, Canada. In typical Torontonian fashion, after rescuing the stranded people in the elevators, and checking to see if everyone had left the building alright, we closed up shop and headed out.... not home, but straight to the nearest bar with cold beer. :-)
After living in a Toronto for 23 years, the power outage did something pretty miraculous - it let the stars come out. With a nearly full moon, Mars off to one side, comets, and a full galaxy of stars, this is the first time anyone in the city can remember seeing the nights sky... ever.
So with a major power outage in full swing, the crew at PCStats partied the night away on Baldwin St. at the Bodega restaurant with its gas grill, and servers crafty enough to use the ancient art of "math" to figure out the tab.
There was virtually no cellphone service for most of the night, no one had much cash (ever notice how much you rely on Credit and Debit Cards?), but everyone pooled what funds they had and enjoyed the dark summer night in a sea of candles.
Rest assured, the PCstats servers will not go down, and we'll be back with the best in tech bright and early Monday morning!
Cheers,
