VIA have done well with the KT600 chipset offering the user an excellent feature set at a very affordable price. The average KT600 motherboard can be found retailing for roughly $100 US. I was surprised to find well respected manufactures such as Gigabyte and MSI keeping their boards below the $100 US price range. The KT600 chipset has brought a great deal of new features and support to the AMD Athlon platform.
However, I cannot help but feel performance is still on the down side for this VIA chipset. Although I did not directly compare an nForce2 board to the competing KT600 solutions I do not think the results I just received will shock nForce2 users.
