Felix Baumgartner leapt from a plane above Dover at 0510 BST, landing 22 miles (35 kilometres) away in France about eight minutes later. Mr Baumgartner wore an aerodynamic jumpsuit with a 6ft carbon fin strapped to his back for the flight, and used a parachute to land in Cap Blanc-Nez near Calais. He also carried his own oxygen with him to breathe in temperatures as low as -68C. He said the plane was at 30,000 feet (9,000 metres) when he jumped - and he initially reached speeds of 360 kilometres per hour.
