"As you can see from the above table, the class of the device regulates only the power, not the operating range. Class 1 devices are much more powerful than Class 2 devices and this may explain why X-Micro specified that Class 1 USB Dongle operates in a 100m range while Class 2 devices can operate in a 20m range. However, the operating range is determined in the laboratory by various tests. The use of Class 1 devices can be uninspired without a power control regulation when two or more devices are operating at close range because the signal will be too powerful and the listening devices will fail to communicate."
