Fluance 5 Speaker Surround Sound - PCstats.com Fluance 5 Speaker Surround Sound

"I am really sick of seeing marketing leaflets in magazines and online for PC speaker systems from popular companies boasting 700 WATTS TOTAL POWER! In the small print you see the burst denotation and no explanation of how those 700 watts of burst power are really translated for a PC system versus a REAL speaker system traditionally attached to a home theater unit or stereo. Simply put I find that these systems can get very loud - in small enclosed spaces, for tiny little speaker cubes. Of course the "wattage" would be insanely high sounding when you add it all up, and consider the fact that you need to somehow make those tiny objects really LOUD. But the bottom line is that those small speakers, every time I have tried to use one outside the realm of a desk, end up not being able to fill any sort of large room or space with any sort of loud convincing sound, let alone warm complete tones. Sure, a few of them can create annoyingly bandy bass that concentrates on a ! few mid-lows but they always end up muddling the frequencies when things matter. This is why every time I tried to move my PC into the future, into the HTPC (Home Theater PC) realm, I end up with failure"
