"Plenty of different companies have announced their plans to release similar
players (or have already done so), which are based on IBM/Hitachi's
MicroDrive to store as much songs as possible, while keeping physical
dimensions to a minimum.
This is certainly a welcomed step since it fills a very wide gap that exists
in the market for quite a while - between the people who don't need anything
more than a Flash player with very limited capacity just as long as it stays
small and those who want as much storage space as possible, and are willing
to compromise on the size of the player.
As you can see, now there are solutions that fit right between those two
groups, and we should hope that their prices will be reasonable towards the
consumers."
