As I was reading the article, this guy was refering to the Sony Walkman which was wildly popular a few years ago. I agree with the popularity of the product and it is true that you do hear about them anymore, but a more important thing happened. Many other companies made them and this little device paved the way to portable CD players and even to this day the products are still on sale everywhere... The ipod itself may not be here to stay, but I truly believe that it has pioneered a trail which media companies will be venturing for decades to come."
