The most important thing to do after installing an operating system (ANY operating system, no matter whether you use Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, BeOS or any of the other operating systems out there) is to update the operating system. You may have the best virus checker, firewall and anti-spyware tools in existence, but none of those will help save you if your OS has a hole big enough to drive a whole fleet of buses through.
