If you think there are no other alternatives to Creative Labs soundcards when it comes to high end PC audio, think again. Times have changed in the past 3 or 4 years since Creative Labs sued their competition into the ground and bought all their assets. Today we're looking at the Ultimate Edge from Philips. It's based on the Envy24 GT chipset from VIA, and capable of 24 bit resolution with 96 kHz sample rate. Find out how it compares to Creative's latest greatest, and find out how much of an improvement Intel's new High Definition Audio specification brings to today's motherboards (hint: not much)
