1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Mouse option.
3. Click the Hardware tab.
4. Click Properties.
5. Choose Advanced Settings.
6. Change the Sample Rate. I would recommend setting the Sample Rate to 100 Hz (maximum setting -- still inferior to PS/2 rate but better than nothing).
7. Up the Input Buffer Length to about 400 to avoid a buffer overrun from the higher sampling speed.

Note: This feature is not supported if you are operating with a USB mouse
