Although Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) reiterated that silicon-on-insulator (SOI) is a "niche" technology, overseas investors are now suggesting that the foundry is assessing the possibility of a bid for SOI-made CPU foundry orders on a 45nm design rule.
