SiS today announced that the latest SiS671FX and SiS968 chipsets both
have passed PCI Express 1.1 compliance test conducted by PCI-SIG®.
PCI-SIG, an industry organization chartered with the development and
management of the PCI bus specification, hosted a yearly PCI Express compliance
test at The Westin Hotel in Taipei at the end of this October. The SiS671FX and
the SiS968 chipsets both presented the highest stability of supporting PCI
Express 1.1 specification, and passed the compliance tests successfully. SiS
dedicates itself to the innovation and development of core logic chipsets for
years. Through the acceptance of such a credible industry organization,
PCI-SIG®, SiS assures customers of the exceeding performance of the SiS671FX and
the SiS968.
The SiS671FX is an integrated chipset specially designed for the
next-generation operating system, Windows Vista™. It supports Intel Core™ 2 Duo
processors, FSB up to 1066MHz CPUs, and DDR2-667 memory. Embedded with SiS
Mirage™3 graphics engine, the SiS671FX is able to hardware support DirectX9.0.
Also, the SiS671FX combines SiS Real Video technology to deliver vivid image
quality. By supporting PCI Express x16 interface, the SiS671FX provides up to
4GB/s of bandwidth for each direction, which fulfills the need of gamers by
speeding up the whole system.
Pairing with the SiS671FX Northbridge chipset, the SiS968 Southbridge chipset
has several unique features. It has been designed to focus on reducing the
power-consumption. Therefore, it is able to actively adjust the power
consumption of peripheral. With such an advanced technology, the SiS968
Southbridge chipset can save up to 50% of power for the system. Besides, the
SiS968 Southbridge chipset is integrated with SiS proprietary MuTIOL® 1G
technology to connect with the SiS671FX Northbridge chipset speedily. It
supports 2 PCI Express interfaces, and 2 SATA 3G ports which allows up to
300MB/s of data transmission. Also, the SiS968 Southbridge supports 8 USB2.0
ports, which perfectly meets the requirement of connecting more and more
devices. Moreover, it supports the most advanced 8-channel High-Definition Audio
surround sound to provide better sound effects, and supports Gigabit Ethernet to
have faster internet access.
