"Bill Gates' company fired the latest salvo in the ongoing battle for Internet supremacy this week by offering a significant upgrade to its satellite mapping feature.
Google took the world - and the world outside the world - by storm several years ago by creating Google Earth, a service that lets users access incredibly clear satellite maps that can hone in on about a third of the planet and allow them to see their own homes or businesses from space.
The idea was introduced Monday, with 15 initial targets being re-imaged in the software's view: San Francisco (pictured, top left), San Jose, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Detroit, Phoenix, Houston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas."
