"Tuesday night Jesse Keating announced that Fedora Core 6 would
not ship this week as many had hoped for, but rather will launch on
Tuesday, October 24. This release was pushed back twice this week due to
last minute bugs. However, with Rawhide being complete, all that is left
is last minute testing and then spinning the ISOs and sending them off
to the mirrors. For those dieing to see what Fedora Core 6 final shall
look like, we have built it from Rawhide on October 18, which should be
the final packages for this build. New in FC6 from Fedora Core 5 is a
multitude of improvements, and is certainly a release for the
open-source community to be proud of. If you're opposed to Microsoft
Vista's licensing agreements or you're finally ready to make the jump to
GNU/Linux, Fedora Core 6 is definitely worth checking out. Fedora 6
ships with GNOME 2.16 and features several improvements such as a yum
applet, Anaconda installation from yum repositories, and many more
terrific features. Check it out over at Phoronix."
