ATi RD690 in November - ATi RD690 in November
Mon, October 02 2006 | 3:56PM | PermaLink Feedback?

Man the PS3 is taking a beating from everyone everywhere. Now retailers in Japan think the Wii will outsell the PS3 by a lot! AMD's latest roadmap says that 65nm Athlon's are coming this year. Man the R600 is a big chip, it'll have over 500 million transistors! If you're using the Office 2007 beta, there's an update that's larger than the original file. ATi's RD690 chipset is to debut in November.

The upcoming RS690+SB600 uses an X700-like graphic card on a socket AM2 platform. We strongly believe that the pipeline count on this Shader model 2.0 supporting chip has to drop down from eight to four. There is simply not enough space on a chipset Northbridge chip top put the whole X700 core with its 120 million transistors inside. The previous ATI integrated graphic had only two pipelines, so the number four is the logical evolution.
