Will VIA and SiS gain more Intel chipset market share now that ATi is focusing on AMD? Chartered and UMC prepare embedded flash production. Inventec denies its getting Dell notebook orders.

The rumor started after a Merrill Lynch research report suggested that Inventec might gain notebook OEM orders from Dell. Industry players commented that Dell would not look for more than four OEM partners for notebook production. An additional partner would mean that one of the existing four may lose orders, which is unlikely given the present situation, the players noted.
