If the Conroe architecture was not all it was cracked up to be, we would
surely be well and truly sick of hearing about it by now. Thankfully, it is
and although we are still awaiting retail versions of the processor, there is
little negative that can be said about the Core 2 Duo. Sure the E6700 is significantly
more expensive than the E6600, yet offers very little in the way of additional
performance, but really who is surprised by this? Of course the flagship Core
2 Duo processor is going to carry a hefty price premium, they always do. Yes,
the E6600 is going to be better value, particularly if overclocking is on the
agenda, as both processors should reach similar heights.
