Digitimes is reporting that Quanta Computer and Gigabyte Technology may be producing web servers for Google which are based on AMD Opteron processors. This news comes via the Chinese-language Economic Daily News, and has not been confirmed by either party. Digitimes also reported that Google has apparently selected AMD Opteron processors instead of Intel Xeon's for the majority of its near-term server purchases.
