Following yesterday's announcement of USI's intention to purchase Abit
Computer's motherboard business and brand, Abit announced a special shareholders
meeting to discuss several items, including the disposition of Abit's office
building, changing the ABIT company name, and several other articles including
the disposition of the company's assets and directors.
Reports Digitimes, "Local media reports and sources in the industry
suggest that, following USI's acquisition of the motherboard business, Abit will
concentrate on distributing components and networking products, while continuing
to leverage its Suzhou, China, plant to offer some motherboard contract
manufacturing services. The shareholders meeting is scheduled for March 10 in
Taoyuan and share transfers will be suspended from February 9 through March
10."
