The VIA K8T900 - PCstats.com The VIA K8T900

"The new VT8251 South Bridge supports all of those RAID levels as well as the popular RAID 5. Data is stored across all drives in the array with a small portion on each drive. In RAID 5 the parity information is also distributed evenly across all disks in the array. The real beauty of RAID 5 is that if any one disk fails it can be replaced and the information from the failed drive can be recovered. This is achieved by ensuring that the parity information for a block is not on the same drive as the one used to store the data itself."
