Demand for videocards is picking up in September but manufacturer are worried
about ATi
GPU shortage. CyberTAN is under investigation for alleged embezzlement.
Lite-On
is doing very well and posts record consolidated revenues in October.
Lite-On expects this quarters delivery volume for half-height (H/H)
combo drives to decrease 10% from last quarter and that of H/H DVD burners to
increase by 15%. In addition, monthly shipments of slim-type combo drives and
DVD burners will rise to 200,000-300,000 units this quarter. As a result, the
total shipment volume for this quarter is estimated to grow by up to 10% from
last quarter but corresponding revenues and gross margin will not grow substantially
due to expected price drops, the company pointed out.
