This is not tech related but I am very sad to hear that the US Senate has backed
drilling for oil
in the Arctic.
Martin said in a New York speech last month there is only 200 days of oil
available in the Arctic. The Canadian figures are under dispute here, but even
the most optimistic models indicate about 10.4 billion barrels of oil are in
the refuge, enough to meet U.S. demands for about 16 months. No oil would flow
for 10 years, and the area would not reach peak output until around 2025.
Is it really worth it? >=( Registration might be necessary however that
is free.
