Hmm, will VESA
survive DisplayPort?
VESA is the self-proclaimed worldwide leader in the development of
video display standards. Unfortunately, at least in recent years, the
organization has consistently failed to live up to its claim. In fact, during
the past five years, VESAs press releases have been quite remarkable in
their ability to identify what is NOT going to happen sort of a pre-obituary
list. Time after time, VESA has announced support for a new specification
with the sad result that the market has been confused or frustrated to the point
that very little has actually been accomplished. VESAs new support for
DisplayPort is almost certain to become another of the increasingly embarrassing
list of failed efforts.
