TSMC and UMC see September
revenues go up but VIS sees a drop. First tier motherboard shipments are
up
20% in the third quarter.
Motherboard shipments from first-tier makers – Asustek Computer, Elitegroup
Computer Systems (ECS), Gigabyte Technology, and Micro-Star International (MSI)
– totaled 26.5-26.7 million units in the third quarter, up 20-21% on year
and 15% sequentially.
DisplayBank
says supply of large LCDs will exceed demand in 2006.
Despite this, DisplayBank indicated that the forecast amount for the full
year is within a reasonable range, as demand for the over-37-inch TV panel segment
will pick up rapidly while the expansion plans at TFT LCD makers for the segment
have faced delays.
