Apple Computer is acknowledging a flaw in its new iPod Nano music player,
offering to replace for free models that shipped with a defective screen that
is prone to cracking.
Demand for used
computers is rising. Dell is trying to get into the high
end computer market now.
As the personal-computer market matures, manufacturers are seeking ways
to reach specialized pockets of customers willing to pay a premium. The makers
of watches or purses have long profited from dressing up their products and
company image, and selling their wares as luxury goods. That strategy has been
extended to utilitarian electronic products as well; the Vertu cell phone, for
example, is sold through its own boutiques in Europe.
