Q:I have aquestion regarding the repartition command
mentioned in your guide to creating an unattended Windows XP installation
. windows is located
mainly at partition C:, but this partition is just a part of HDD and other
partitions D:, E: with data exist. will repartition command format only C: or
all the hard drive with other partitions? I would appreciate a clear
answer.
A: The
'Repartition=Yes' command is an option that can be used in the Winnt.sif
file used to create a fully unattended Windows XP installation CD. This
command instructs the Windows XP installation program to delete all
partitions on the first drive, then create and format one large NTFS partition
on which Windows will be installed. All previous data on any
partition on your first physical drive will be lost in the process. My
advice would be to backup your data onto another physical drive, then disconnect
it during the install
process.
