New Custom VIA Doom 3 Map - New Custom VIA Doom 3 Map
Fri, June 10 2005 | 11:32AM | PermaLink Feedback?
VIA Gamers has just posted its Doom 3 benchmark demo a well as multiplayer map.

Viavga_d3_bench is crammed with detail: loads of curved surfaces, moving objects, various sfx such as reflective surfaces, heathaze and heavily drastic lighting for the sake of benchmarking. As the level grew it started to take the shape of a tight, yet reasonably spacious and well connected deathmatch map. It can be played in DM and Team DM matches, although it would require respectable systems to run it smoothly (with all visual effects turned on). Being a part of the viavga series of maps, it does have a similar appearance, although it contains at least double the visual detail. It’s overall layout is rather Quake RocketArena-like in nature and I’ve done this deliberately as I plan to port it to Quake 4 soon after it’s released (as viavga_d3_bench took shape I started to think that it would look even better with a Railgun or 2). I may have to tone down the eye candy for use in more serious deathmatch games though. :D
