"I have a HP ZV6000 the laptop it has TV out capability and is built around the ATI chipset before buying the Wii I wanted to hook up my laptop to my TV and use the laptop as a media center/ console. In order to hook up the laptop to the TV i needed an S-video cable, A 7 pin S-video cable goes for about 17-25$ on the internet. Being a die hard DIY’er I decided to build my own. I first scouted the net to get pin outs for the S-video port. I found the pin outs here, next I needed 3 RCA jacks luckily I had a Audio/Video cable from my old DVD player. If you don’t have one you can get one from RadioShack for a few dollars i also needed one 3.5mm stereo jack for audio (you can get this too at RadioShack or order them over the internet). I decided that I could just use the leads from a resistor as the S-video connector.
