USI and Foxconn are reportedly going to make the new WiFi
iPod in the second half of 2007. Wow things are not going well for Epox!
Lite-On is planning on releasing 16x
DVD+R DL burners by the end of the year, wow that's fast.
Currently, 8x is the highest burning speed for DVD+R DL format, taking 15-16
minutes to burn a disc, the sources indicated. Due to relatively high prices,
DVD+R DL discs are mostly used to record movies or back up Xbox 360 games or
software, the sources pointed out. Plextor and Pioneer have claimed that their
DVD burners can reach 10x DVD+R DL burning speed on some selected discs, the
sources noted. However, a 16x DVD+R DL format can reduce the burning time to
8-10 minutes, the sources emphasized. The much shorter burning time is expected
to significantly push up the demand for DVD+R DL discs, the sources noted.
